SureVision Eye Centers provide general ophthalmology services and refractive and cataract surgery to tens of thousands of patients in Missouri and Illinois. Its ten doctors work out of seven locations, with headquarters in St. Louis.
Opportunity
Dr. Lawrence A. Gans, SureVision's Medical Director, heard about Brevium from another clinic who was using it successfully, and asked his staff to evaluate it for SureVision. With Brevium's help, SureVision measured the number of lost patients and available appointments, and discovered that there was an excellent opportunity to boost visit volume and improve compliance using Brevium.
Solution
SureVision's goals were both to improve compliance and increase visit volumes, so SureVision elected to use Brevium's full data mining capabilities to contact patients who had ignored recalls as well as those with any of the medical conditions which Brevium will recognize.
In order to avoid neglecting any at-risk patients, SureVision decided to target patients belonging to all of its doctors. However, because some doctors are already quite busy, Brevium's SmartFill feature was switched on to ensure that busy schedules weren't overfilled.
SureVision used existing staff to make calls. Because each location had unique scheduling requirements and procedures, SureVision asked for a way to assign callers to specific locations. Brevium made the requested change, so that patients expected to return to a given location would be called by the appropriate staff.
Results
Ophthalmic Associates has seen a significant increase in overall visit volume, and its innovative approach to increasing surgical volumes without overrunning clinical schedules has proven to be very successful.
